The Witcher 3 New Game Plus DLC

Many players have a query about whether they should start a new game and then finish the DLC or get them done with first and then start the new game. So according to some experienced player, you should not start NG+ game before playing the expansions. If you decide to do otherwise, then you’ll have to play the whole game almost second time before you gain enough level to play the expansions. The reason behind this is that NG+ bumps most of the things by 30 levels. On the other hand, some players believe that completing the NG+ before playing the expansions will you give a slight advantage.

Is NG+ Worth It?

So, addressing the most popular question? Is Witcher 3 New Game Plus worth a shot? Well, I’d say it will depend on your love for The Witcher game. I’ve encountered player who’d just find reasons to play The Witcher 3 all over again and the NG+ just acts as a catalyst. I’d like to present a great piece of insight that was shared by a player on The Witcher 3 NG+.

Here’s the thing about NG+. The very first thing you learn in a subsequent playthrough is that the first five hours of the game are the most boring. White Orchard is really just an intro area. There are very very very few diversions: no horse races or fighting events, only one Gwent opponent, and very few unknown locations to explore. White Orchard is a war-ravaged land with nothing to do and it’s designed that way.

Your last encounter there and the fallout from it make it very clear to you as a player that once you leave, there’s no reason to go back for story or quest sake. You accomplished what you set out to do there and on your way out you make a huge mess that you’re not responsible for cleaning up and has no real repercussions on the story going forward.

Once you roll through to Velen, that’s when everything picks back up and you begin to have fun again. Until then however, the lack of things you can do in White Orchard really makes getting through it a chore that you want to experience as quickly as possible and be done with.

If you want something to make the game exciting for that first little bit, you can reroll your character into something different then spend that time there adjusting to the combat curve you’ve created for yourself. That’s about all there is I can think of to do to make it interesting. If that doesn’t sound fun to you, then wait for Fallout 4 and play through that then come back to The Witcher and compare and contrast. ~ Source
